Hi, I’m Renee! Thank you for visiting my website! I’m a Filipino based in the United Kingdom and I wear many hats — researcher, academic, media and communications practitioner, and children’s book author, to name a few. I have worked as a climate change communicator for over a decade and currently work as the communications strategist for the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project of IDDRI. I recently finished my doctorate in Political Communication at Loughborough University. My research interests include social media and politics, media and international development, and the impacts of social media in activist movements. I combine research and practice in my work, and believe that we need theory to inform practice, and that theory without practice is just….well, research that gets cobwebs on the shelf.
I also write books for children about the environment. My first book, “Where Did All the Fireflies Go?” has been translated to Malaysian and was listed by National Geographic as a children’s book to read to discover the world. The sequel to this book will be out in 2023!
Aside from these, I love plants and books which are both my hobbies and my collections.
